Kaisersesch, September 11, 2023. The CLASSEN Group announced today the establishment of its own sustainability department. The family-owned company has been developing products and technologies since its founding, and by establishing this new department, it underscores the importance of sustainability to the company. With this move, the CLASSEN Group is responding to the growing demand for products with defined environmental and product characteristics and will consolidate the related activities within a dedicated sustainability department going forward.
The CLASSEN Group will consolidate its sustainability activities into a dedicated sustainability department going forward. To better coordinate the individual initiatives that have been carried out in various divisions of the company, the company is now establishing this department to define, track, and implement sustainability goals. Sebastian Wendel, who has been involved with sustainability issues at the company for many years and has continuously advanced them, will head this department. He will be supported by Julie Quervel, the granddaughter of the company’s founder, who will assume responsibility for monitoring and maintaining sustainability metrics in her role in corporate planning and controlling. Her contribution will support the systematic tracking and further development of the CLASSEN Group’s sustainability metrics.

To date, the CLASSEN Group’s commitment to sustainability has been evident in areas such as product development, the design of energy-efficient systems, and the construction of renewable energy generation facilities. In this regard, the company places particular emphasis on developing products with defined material and product properties. The establishment of the sustainability department is a further step toward consolidating and advancing these activities within the company.

“We firmly believe that sustainability is not only an obligation but also an opportunity for innovation and growth,” says Sebastian Wendel. “With our new sustainability department, we aim to further examine and reduce our environmental impact and conduct our business in accordance with ethical principles.”

Kaisersesch, September 11, 2023. The CLASSEN Group is announcing a significant step toward sustainability today. The family-owned company, which has focused on developing sustainable and environmentally conscious products since its founding, is now underscoring its commitment to a greener future by establishing its own sustainability department. In doing so, the CLASSEN Group is not only responding to the growing demand for eco-friendly products but also highlighting the company’s long-standing sustainability philosophy, which has been upheld for generations.

The CLASSEN Group is characterized by a cross-generational commitment to sustainability that is embedded at every level of the company. To better coordinate the individual initiatives that have been undertaken to date across various divisions, the company is now establishing its own sustainability department to clearly define, consistently pursue, and effectively implement its sustainability goals. About the CLASSEN Group

As a leading German manufacturer of wall and floor coverings, CLASSEN stands for technological leadership and durable product solutions. Approximately 2,000 employees worldwide are committed to efficient processes, responsible use of materials, and continuous improvement throughout the entire value chain. With professional expertise and dedication, they promote resource-efficient processes, durable product concepts, and the return of suitable materials to the recycling loop. CLASSEN deliberately avoids the use of chlorine, PVC, and plasticizers in its wall and floor coverings.

With numerous patents available to the entire industry, the company underscores not only its own independence but also its commitment to continuous innovation. With CERAMIN®, CLASSEN has developed a material that consists largely of recycled plastic and is highly recyclable. In doing so, CLASSEN is making an exemplary contribution to the circular economy. Founded in 1962 by Dr. Hans-Jürgen Hannig, this family-owned company is currently managed by three generations, including the founder himself, who are involved in day-to-day operations.
