Kaisersesch, November 28, 2024 — The CLASSEN Group has received the coveted Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label for CERAMIN®. This award recognizes CERAMIN as one of the most efficient and sustainable solutions for the construction and renovation industry.
CERAMIN is a completely PVC-free flooring made from recycled and recyclable polypropylene (PP). The use of safe raw materials and energy-efficient production reduce its environmental footprint. The CLASSEN Group has been manufacturing CERAMIN in Germany for over ten years and has consistently championed environmentally friendly innovations in the flooring industry. In addition to Cradle to Cradle certification, CERAMIN holds other environmental and quality certifications, such as the “Blue Angel” eco-label.
Kaisersesch, February 7, 2024 – The CLASSEN Group, a renowned manufacturer of laminate flooring and PVC-free polymer flooring, is pleased to announce the publication of the CERAMIN Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).
The EPD, with its quantitative statements on the environmental performance of building products, is aimed at a wide range of stakeholders involved in manufacturing and services along the value chain—from raw materials to the finished building.

CERAMIN products meet expectations for quality and aesthetics and possess well-defined product properties. With CERAMIN, customers receive a flooring product whose material composition and use of recycled materials can be specifically described. Of particular note are the material properties of CERAMIN as well as the use of recycled materials. The use of recycled materials in production is an integral part of the material composition.

With CERAMIN, CLASSEN has developed a material that consists largely of recycled plastics and is suitable for reintroduction into material cycles. For CERAMIN wall and floor coverings, CLASSEN avoids the use of chlorine, PVC, and plasticizers, relying instead on the plastic polypropylene (PP).

An Overview of CERAMIN's Key Features

·
PVC-Free
CERAMIN does not contain PVC, chlorine, or plasticizers. This material composition is a defined product characteristic.
·
Carbon Footprint:
The use of recycled materials in production takes relevant aspects of the carbon footprint into account. The corresponding figures are reported as part of the external assessment.
·
Reuse in Material Cycles:
Because it is made of polypropylene (PP), CERAMIN is suitable for reuse in material cycles.

About the EPD

The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is a tool designed to provide transparent and comparable information about the environmental impacts of products. It offers customers, architects, and other stakeholders information about a product’s declared environmental impacts. The EPD enables informed decisions based on environmentally relevant facts.

Kaisersesch, February 7, 2024 – The CLASSEN Group, a renowned manufacturer of laminate flooring and PVC-free, recyclable polymer flooring, is pleased to announce the publication of the CERAMIN Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

The EPD, with its quantitative statements on the environmental performance of construction products, is intended for a wide range of stakeholders involved in manufacturing and services along the value chain—from raw materials to the finished building.

Ceramin products not only meet expectations for quality and aesthetics, but also set a new standard for environmental responsibility. Customers can be confident that with CERAMIN, they are not only purchasing a high-quality flooring product but also contributing to environmental protection. Particularly noteworthy are the impressive results CERAMIN achieves by being PVC-free and using recycled materials. The use of recycled materials in production is a key factor contributing to this positive outcome.

With CERAMIN, CLASSEN has developed a material that consists largely of recycled plastics and is 100 percent recyclable. For its health-conscious CERAMIN wall and floor coverings, CLASSEN has deliberately chosen not to use chlorine, PVC, or plasticizers, opting instead for the plastic polypropylene (PP).

An overview of CERAMIN's key features:

  1. PVC-Free: CERAMIN does not use PVC, chlorine, or plasticizers, which not only reduces environmental impact but also contributes to a healthier indoor environment.
  2. Smaller carbon footprint: By using recycled materials in production, CERAMIN significantly reduces its carbon footprint. This is a major step toward sustainability and environmental protection and is monitored by an external certifier.
  3. Recyclability: Because it is made of polypropylene (PP), CERAMIN is 100% recyclable.

In addition to the EPD, CERAMIN’s comprehensive certification includes prestigious awards such as the Blue Angel, the eco-Institut label, and the RecyClass Recycled Plastic Certificate. These recognitions confirm CERAMIN’s sustainable characteristics in terms of materials and production, which are an integral part of the CLASSEN Group’s corporate philosophy.

About the EPD
