Kaisersesch, November 28, 2024 — The CLASSEN Group has received the coveted Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label for CERAMIN®. This award recognizes CERAMIN as one of the most efficient and sustainable solutions for the construction and renovation industry.
CERAMIN is a completely PVC-free flooring made from recycled and recyclable polypropylene (PP). The use of safe raw materials and energy-efficient production reduce its environmental footprint. The CLASSEN Group has been manufacturing CERAMIN in Germany for over ten years and has consistently championed environmentally friendly innovations in the flooring industry. In addition to Cradle to Cradle certification, CERAMIN holds other environmental and quality certifications, such as the “Blue Angel” eco-label.

Sustainability as a Guiding Principle

CERAMIN is a completely PVC-free flooring made from recycled and recyclable polypropylene (PP). The use of safe raw materials and energy-efficient production reduce its environmental footprint. The CLASSEN Group has been manufacturing CERAMIN in Germany for over ten years and has consistently championed environmentally friendly innovations in the flooring industry. In addition to Cradle to Cradle certification, CERAMIN holds other environmental and quality certifications, such as the “Blue Angel” eco-label.

Cradle to Cradle Material Health Certificate

The Cradle to Cradle Certified® Material Health certificate was issued for CERAMIN in February 2025. The certification bears the number 8902 and was conducted by EPEA GmbH – Part of Drees & Sommer, a leading assessment body. It is valid through February 27, 2028, and confirms compliance with the strict, globally recognized material health assessment method of the Cradle to Cradle Certified Product Standard at the Bronze level.

Circularity for a Better Future

The Cradle to Cradle principle aims to design products so that they can be fully recycled without generating waste. CERAMIN is made of recycled and recyclable polypropylene (PP) and, at the end of its service life as flooring, can be reintroduced into the production cycle. Thanks to its material properties, it is suitable not only for reuse in new flooring but also for use in other products. This helps conserve resources and supports a sustainable circular economy.

A strong signal for the industry

With the Cradle to Cradle Material Health certification, the CLASSEN Group is sending a strong signal in support of sustainable innovation in the flooring industry. “This certification is another milestone for our company and demonstrates that sustainable business practices and high-quality product solutions can go hand in hand,” explains Sebastian Wendel, who is responsible for strategic business development at the CLASSEN Group.

Modular booth featuring 420 unique, fully recycled floorboards

Cologne, March 28, 2023. For the first time, the CLASSEN Group is participating in Interzum, the world’s leading trade fair for furniture manufacturing and interior design. The family-owned company is celebrating its debut with a booth design concept that brings the wall and floor covering manufacturer’s guiding principles—sustainability and uniqueness—to life in Cologne from May 9 to 12. The booth in Hall 1.2 can be assembled and disassembled in a modular fashion, allowing it to be individually adapted to the specific requirements of various trade shows and presentation events. In addition, trade show visitors can get a sense of the CLASSEN Group’s capabilities through 420 unique floor planks. TheCERAMINⓇ individual planks, designed using digital printing, are not only robust but also 100 percent recyclable. Thanks to their easy disassembly, the entire surface can subsequently be reused or completely recycled.

420 individual planks

CLASSEN is already putting its new modular booth design concept to use at BAU in Munich. Just a few weeks later, the booth—this time slightly larger at 145 square meters—will be on display at Interzum. The “Materials & Nature” exhibition segment is a perfect fit for the long-established company from Kaisersesch. The patented materialCERAMINⓇ was developed with great passion at the company’s main plant; it impresses not only with its exceptional product properties but, above all, with its commitment to sustainability.

CERAMIN®: A prime example of the circular economy

CERAMIN® consists primarily of natural mineral filler and polypropylene (PP). More than 65 percent of the plastic content, in turn, is made up of recycled materials. As a result, these floor and wall coverings are healthy for living spaces, 100 percent recyclable, and a sustainable alternative to PVC flooring, ceramic tiles, and natural stone. Thanks to their durability (use class 34 / AC6),CERAMINⓇ floors are particularly well-suited for trade show and retail construction, as well as for commercial and residential spaces. This is also because they are moisture-resistant and very easy to clean. As early as the K 2022 plastics trade fair, the machinery manufacturer battenfeld.cincinatti had equipped its exhibition booth withCERAMINⓇ flooring, which was subsequently reprocessed into new flooring at the CLASSEN plant in Kaisersesch.

Sustainable, high-performance, and with an eye for detail

Trade show visitors are sure to be impressed not only by the durability of theCERAMINⓇ flooring installed at the booth, but above all by the fact that CLASSEN made sure no two planks are alike. The flooring’s design is inspired by native wood species and created using digital printing—allowing the Interzum booth to be fitted with 240 unique planks. This demonstrates the expertise and attention to detail of the CLASSEN Group’s design department.

A Contender for Top Honors: CERAMIN, an Alternative to Tiles Tiles and Manor Herringbone Laminate

Two product innovations from the CLASSEN Group are in the running for the prestigious interzum award, which will be presented on May 8, 2023, during the interzum trade show. With this award, the expert jury honors products that impress them in terms of the value-adding factors of design, sustainability, and innovation. These are precisely the aspects that apply to both theCERAMINⓇ Tiles collection—which has already proven itself on the market—and the first herringbone laminate collection,ManorⓇ

XXL and ultralight: With CERAMINTiles, design and renovate bathrooms on your own

CERAMINⓇ Tiles represent a completely new category of tiles. They are ultra-lightweight, durable, and ideal for bathroom renovations or refurbishments. They are also available in a wide range of designs and sizes. For example, despite their size of 2.55 × 1.20 meters, the XXL designs weigh up to 60 percent less than conventional ceramic tiles. This means they can be installed by a single person, makingCERAMINⓇ Tiles particularly attractive to DIY enthusiasts and professionals alike. At the trade show booth, visitors can experience all the technical advancements of the newCERAMINⓇ generation through the new “Nuva” collection. In addition to an embossed bevel in the wear layer, Nuva stands out above all for its XL sizes.

Manor - the first herringbone laminate collection that’s easy to install

WithManorⓇ, CLASSEN reinforces its technological leadership in the flooring industry.

The first herringbone collection in the laminate flooring sector is launching with a completely new installation system. Unlike conventional herringbone products,ManorⓇ does not require separate left- and right-hand planks. This not only eliminates the need for retailers to stock two types of planks but also prevents the risk of mixing up planks during installation. The innovative Fold-Down installation method ensures true ease of installation and allows for quick progress with both herringbone and standard laying patterns. The synchronized pore appearance emphasizes the natural look of the designs and gives the products an exclusive character.

These and other new products will be on display at the CLASSEN Group’s booth B021 in Hall 1.2 at Interzum from May 9 through 12.
