All About HYBRID.

Construction, Features, Installation, and Maintenance: Here you'll find the answers to help you with your flooring project.

01

Basics and Comparison

What is a hybrid floor?

A hybrid floor combines multiple layers into a single flooring system. A durable surface, a sturdy core board, and—depending on the product—built-in impact sound insulation combine durability with pleasant acoustics.

How is a CLASSEN hybrid floor constructed?

CLASSEN hybrid flooring features a multi-layer construction with a durable surface and a sturdy core panel. Depending on the collection, the construction may include impact sound insulation. You can find the exact layer sequence and installation height in the respective product information.

What is the difference between hybrid flooring, laminate, and CERAMIN?

Laminate flooring typically consists of a decorative layer and a wear layer on top of a sturdy core board. CERAMIN is made from mineral fillers and polypropylene. Hybrid flooring combines different layers. Compare specific collections in terms of construction, water resistance, acoustics, and environmental certification.

02

Applications and Features

For which rooms is hybrid flooring suitable?

CLASSEN lists living rooms, bedrooms, children's rooms, and home offices, among others, as areas of use. For bathrooms, the specific product must be approved. Floor-level showers are excluded.

How water-resistant is hybrid flooring?

CLASSEN hybrid floors are water-resistant. The level of protection and the applicable conditions depend on the specific product. Avoid standing water and follow the installation and care instructions.

03

Planning and Installation

Can hybrid flooring be installed over radiant floor heating?

Whether your hybrid flooring can be installed over radiant floor heating depends on the approval status of the specific product and heating system. Check the technical documentation and installation instructions before installation. The flooring, underlayment, and heating system must be compatible with one another.

About Hybrid Installation Systems

What kind of subfloor is required for hybrid flooring?

The type of underlayment required depends on the product’s construction and the subfloor. Check whether impact sound insulation is already integrated and which underlayment is specified in the installation instructions. Use additional insulation only if it has been approved for that purpose. Also, follow the guidelines for moisture protection.

About Hybrid Installation Systems

Can I install hybrid flooring myself?

Yes, CLASSEN hybrid floors with a click system are also suitable for experienced DIYers. Prepare the subfloor according to the instructions and maintain the specified clearances from walls and fixed structural elements. The installation system and steps depend on the product you choose.

Cleaning and Care

How do I clean and maintain hybrid flooring?

Remove loose dirt by sweeping or vacuuming. If necessary, clean the floor with a slightly damp, well-wrung-out mop and a suitable cleaner. Avoid standing water and steam cleaners. For UBERWOOD and HYDROCLICK , CLASSEN recommends cleaning exclusively with dry methods during the first one to two weeks after installation. Always follow the product-specific care instructions.
