Last year, CERAMIN received Cradle to Cradle Material Health certification—a first milestone marking the start of the demanding C2C assessment process. Since Full Scope certification considers all relevant product and corporate aspects and imposes significantly more extensive requirements, the CLASSEN Group has built up the process step by step. Having now achieved the Full Scope Silver level under Version 4.0, the company is consistently continuing along this path of development and demonstrating CERAMIN’s comprehensive recyclability and technical performance.
The certificate confirms compliance with the criteria of the Cradle to Cradle standard in the areas of material health, recyclability, renewable energy, social responsibility, and water management. The audit was conducted by EPEA GmbH – Part of Drees & Sommer, which comprehensively evaluated the product portfolio. The certification is valid through February 2028.
Sebastian Wendel, head of the sustainability department at CLASSEN, explains:
“A key factor in achieving Cradle to Cradle Certified® Full Scope Silver certification was our take-back and recycling programs. They enable us to return PP-based CERAMIN products to the material cycle at the end of their life cycle. I am particularly pleased that we have already been able to implement these concepts not only in the DACH region but also in the U.S. with partners. In doing so, we are laying the foundation for the further development of material cycles across market boundaries.”
The CLASSEN Group is convinced that recycling does not necessarily mean that CERAMIN must be processed exclusively into new CERAMIN products. The technology has been consistently developed according to the “Design for Recycling” principle and enables the production of high-quality PP secondary raw materials that can be used in a wide range of applications. In this way, CERAMIN contributes to the further development of material cycles—far beyond its own product range.
