Icon Flexible Vinyl Flooring
Kaisersesch, November 28, 2024 — The CLASSEN Group has received the coveted Solar Impulse Efficient Solution Label for CERAMIN®. This award recognizes CERAMIN as one of the most efficient and sustainable solutions for the construction and renovation industry.
Kaisersesch, November 9, 2023 – The CLASSEN Group, a pioneer in the development of technologically innovative DIY flooring, announces that it will launch its first PVC-free Dryback product for commercial applications toward the end of this year. The CLASSEN Group has made a name for itself in recent years through the development of forward-looking technologies and is now once again setting new standards in the flooring industry with “CERAMIN Flex.”
The growing demand for eco-friendly and PVC-free flooring has inspired the CLASSEN Group to further deepen its commitment to sustainable innovation. The CLASSEN Group’s success story began with the construction of the world’s largest laminate flooring factory in the early 2000s. Over the years, CLASSEN has shaped the industry with innovations and the development of new patents, thereby setting the highest standards for quality. Eight years ago, CLASSEN developed the revolutionary PVC-free material “CERAMIN,” which is used in healthy and sustainable design flooring. This milestone ultimately laid the foundation for global demand for PVC-free flooring.

The use of CERAMIN in a Dryback product required new investments at CLASSEN. In this context, the CLASSEN Group commissioned its first die-cutting machine at the end of October to offer a wide range of design options in the commercial sector in the future. This design diversity is achieved not only through various new formats but, above all, because CLASSEN has been a pioneer in the field of industrial digital printing for years. The combination of CERAMIN and the possibilities of digital printing opens up unique potential for the commercial sector, which is why the development of a PVC-free flooring suitable for commercial use was the next logical step for this innovative family-owned company.

We have always prioritized innovation and sustainability, and this product is a natural extension of our commitment to environmentally friendly and health-conscious solutions. We are confident that our customers and partners will appreciate the benefits and design freedom this product offers,” says Céline Quervel, Head of Marketing at the CLASSEN Group.

To ensure that the new product meets the CLASSEN Group’s high quality standards and satisfies the demands of the commercial sector, the company has already established key partnerships with leading industry players. These strategic alliances will ensure the successful launch and long-term acceptance of the new product.

Circularity for a Better Future

The Cradle to Cradle principle aims to design products so that they can be fully recycled without generating waste. CERAMIN is made of recycled and recyclable polypropylene (PP) and, at the end of its service life as flooring, can be reintroduced into the production cycle. Thanks to its material properties, it is suitable not only for reuse in new flooring but also for use in other products. This helps conserve resources and supports a sustainable circular economy.

A strong signal for the industry

With the Cradle to Cradle Material Health certification, the CLASSEN Group is sending a strong signal in support of sustainable innovation in the flooring industry. “This certification is another milestone for our company and demonstrates that sustainable business practices and high-quality product solutions can go hand in hand,” explains Sebastian Wendel, who is responsible for strategic business development at the CLASSEN Group.
