Munich, April 25, 2023. The CLASSEN Group showcased innovative design, sustainable flooring, and product innovations at BAU 2023. As one of the world’s leading manufacturers of laminate flooring and PVC-free wall and floor coverings, the family-owned company plays a leading role in the circular economy and sustainability for the entire industry with its products. This was also reflected in the booth design.

The flooring for the trade show booth was made from the company’s proprietary material,CERAMINⓇ. This makes it not only durable but also fully recyclable. Unlike conventional trade show flooring, theCERAMINⓇ flooring is not subsequently disposed of in a waste-to-energy plant or landfill but is 100 percent reprocessed into new flooring at the CLASSEN Group’s factory. After BAU, the trade show booth itself will be set up in the showroom at the company’s headquarters in Kaisersesch. In the spirit of sustainability, the family-owned company also opted not to use catalogs. Instead, the booth relied exclusively on QR codes.

With Manor®, the flooring manufacturer demonstrated its technological leadership at BAU: Unlike conventional herringbone designs, CLASSEN’s first herringbone collection does not require separate left- and right-facing planks. This eliminates the need for retailers to stock two different types of planks and enables quick and easy installation without the risk of mixing them up. The innovative product generated particularly strong interest among trade show visitors and won them over with its ease of use.

At the trade show, CLASSEN introduced Uberwood®, a completely new category of flooring that falls between laminate and vinyl flooring in terms of price and quality, yet still boasts a robust and scratch-resistant surface. In addition, the flooring offers optional integrated impact sound insulation and can withstand water exposure for up to a week. Inspired by hand-selected local woods, the product mimics nature’s characteristic grains and cracks. This gives the planks an authenticity that, until now, only solid wood floors could achieve.
The new Nuva collection was also a hit. This further development of the provenCERAMIN® products features a milled bevel in the wear layer and a wide range of XL sizes. The company’s in-house digital printing process enables a wide selection of designs. The product line is based on the company’s proprietary material and, like all CERAMIN® products, is guaranteed to be PVC-free, sustainable, and 100 percent recyclable.
CERAMIN® Flex also made its debut at BAU. CLASSEN’s dryback alternative is particularly appealing for commercial projects and stands out for its health-promoting material. The product will be available starting in the fourth quarter of 2023. At its booth, the company also presented new designs for CERAMIN® Tiles —the sustainable alternative to ceramic and stone tiles that is already well-established in the market. The tiles are ideal for wet areas and weigh up to 60 percent less than conventional ceramic tiles. This makes the product particularly appealing to DIY enthusiasts and tradespeople.
The new products—most notablyManor® andCERAMIN® Flex, which were unveiled to the public for the first time—made a big impression at the trade show. The detailed and lifelike designs of CLASSEN products invite visitors to touch them. BAU was the perfect venue to vividly showcase these high-quality flooring solutions to visitors from around the world. The CLASSEN Group considers the trade show a complete success and has already firmly scheduled its participation in the next BAU to once again inspire the industry with sustainable product innovations.

CERAMIN® consists primarily of natural mineral filler and polypropylene (PP). More than 65 percent of the plastic content is made up of recycled materials. As a result, these floor and wall coverings are healthy for the home, 100 percent recyclable, and a sustainable alternative to PVC flooring, ceramic tiles, and natural stone. Thanks to their durability (use class 34 / AC6),CERAMIN® floors are suitable not only for commercial and residential settings but also for high-traffic commercial environments. This is also because they are moisture-resistant and very easy to clean.
